Include function mailbox in Thunderbird

Important:
In order to access a function mailbox, the person who owns it must have authorization (full access and/or dispatch authorization) via PRISMA. In the following example, the address max.muster@uni-bielefeld.de has authorization for the function mailbox funktionspostfach@uni-bielefeld.de.

The configuration of new e-mail accounts is done via "File > New > Existing e-mail account...".

You must first provide these three pieces of information.

Your name:

-> sender name of the function mailbox (as it should appear when sending an e-mail to the recipient).

E-mail address:

-> e-mail address of the function mailbox.

Password:

-> BITS password of the personal mailbox(!)

 

Then confirm with Next.

Important:
The basic server settings are found automatically, but there are more settings to be made via Manual setup. The settings must be entered as shown below.

The server settings in detail

Für den Posteingang-Server werden folgende Einstellungen benötigt: Für den Postausgang-Server:
-> IMAP -> SMTP
-> imap.uni-bielefeld.de -> smtp.uni-bielefeld.de
-> 993 -> 587
-> SSL/TLS -> STARTTLS
-> Passwort, normal -> Passwort, normal

Important:

Different entries must be made for the user names!

User name inbox server:

E-mail address of the personal mailbox, "backslash", part of the e-mail address of the function mailbox BEFORE the @ sign. Example:

max.muster@uni-bielefeld.de\function-mailbox

 

Username outgoing mail server:

Email address of the personal mailbox. Example:

max.muster@uni-bielefeld.de

 

Click Done to complete the configuration.

After the account has been successfully added, the window can be closed via Exit.

Subscribe folder

It is possible that the subfolders of the mailbox are not displayed. In this case, the folders must be subscribed manually.

1.

Right-click on the function mailbox and go to Subscribe.... Go.

2.

Here select the enabled folders and then confirm with OK.

The folders will now be displayed.

If this is not the case, you have to restart Thunderbird.
